Yes, in principle the Fire blanket retain liquids. In a test, the ceiling was filled with water and it was shown that the water was reliably retained. Acids or alkalis also have no negative impact on the resistance of Fire blanket.
This property makes them versatile, not only for firefighting, but also as protection against hazardous liquids.
